I’m Dr Adam Hill, an international keynote speaker, Staff Data Scientist, and researcher based in the UK. My professional journey began in the realm of high-energy astrophysics, specialising in space telescope gamma-ray transient data. Over the years, I have translated those analytical skills into leading and building production AI systems, RAG architectures, and scalable data platforms.

Currently, I serve as the Staff Data Scientist at ComplyAdvantage, where I work at the intersection of AI, machine learning, and large-scale data platforms to detect and combat financial crime.

  • DataKind UK: Since 2015, I have been a dedicated volunteer and Data Ambassador, helping non-profits leverage data science for social good.

What is this blog about?

Horse with a Pointy Hat originally started as a space to document my transition from academia to industry data science and share reflections on machine learning, data engineering, and community building.

As the technology landscape has evolved, so has the focus of this blog. While you will still find foundational data science and ML content, the discussions here are increasingly centered on:

  • Large Language Models (LLMs) and their real-world applications.
  • Agentic AI—designing and orchestrating systems capable of autonomous execution and collaboration.
  • AI Governance—navigating safety, compliance, ethics, and policy in the age of generative AI.
